The Reverend John D. Hill is the product of the A. M. E. Church parsonage. He was born in Oakland, California. Reverend Hill is the youngest of five sons born to Mrs. Tessie P. Hill and the late Reverend H. Solomon Hill. He attended public schools in Oakland, California, N. Little Rock, Arkansas, Seattle, Washington and Kansas City, Kansas. Reverend Hill received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas and continued graduate study at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. Reverend Hill taught ten years for the Missouri State Schools for the Severely Handicapped in Kansas City, Missouri and two years for the Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools. He received a Master of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology located in Kansas City, Missouri. Reverend Hill received his Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.
Reverend Hill has been active in the community throughout his ministry. Currently he is involved with Project Nexus at the University of New Mexico. The project is hosted by the university’s Religious Studies department and brings together clergy from a variety of traditions to discuss contemporary problems and the role of religion. Reverend Hill is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Incorporated.
Reverend Hill has served as pastor at Mount Olive A. M. E. Church, Emporia, Kansas; Hall’s Chapel A. M. E. Church, Newton, Kansas; and Allen Chapel A. M. E. Church, Kansas City, Missouri. Reverend Hill currently is the proud pastor of Grant Chapel where we are, “Praising God, exalting Christ, led by the Holy Spirit, empowering the people!”
Reverend Hill is married to Debra; they have one daughter.
